Abstract & Overview
Abstract Street lighting for the Bosowa Polytechnic campus area is an important facility that requires a continuous supply of electrical energy. Busyness sometimes makes people forget the little things that should be done. Such as forgetting to turn on or turn off the lights. From the above problems, an Automatic Street Light Based on an LDR Sensor with a Charging Feature using an Accumulator was created with the aim of designing and testing an automatic street light system based on solar panels with a Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensor as a lamp controller. The system consists of a solar panel as an energy source, a battery as an energy store, an LDR sensor as a light intensity detector, and a control circuit using a transistor as a switch. The process of making the tool begins with assembling a tool that connects the solar panel to the battery through a charging setting, then the control system is assembled using an LDR sensor that functions as a voltage divider on the BC547 transistor base which is configured as an electronic switch to disconnect or connect the current to the lamp automatically. After conducting the test, the average incoming energy was 1.62 Ah and the average battery status was 60%. The test results showed that the system was able to work well, where the lights turned on automatically when the ambient light intensity decreased and turned off when the light intensity increased. The use of solar energy in this system has been proven to increase the efficiency of energy use and reduce dependence on conventional electricity. Thus, automatic street lights based on solar panels and LDR sensors can be an environmentally friendly and economical alternative solution for street lighting, especially in the Bosowa Polytechnic Campus.
