Abstract & Overview
The theme of cultural memory and its relations with places is undergoing a cultural transformation related to the use of new technologies. The article proposes a theoretical reflection inserted in the broader context of Data Digital Humanities, on one side, and design research, on the other, and illustrates how digital data could generate cultural, social, economic values for territories and their inhabitants. Three possible approaches are presented (generative, aggregative, narrative), as expression of a growing sensibility about design-driven forms, processes, tools able to activate the collective memory of places.
