Abstract & Overview
Pulsars are strongly magnetised neutron stars where their fast rotation powers the acceleration of particles in the magnetosphere and the emission of beamed radiation from the radio to the gamma rays. One of the hottest topics in pulsar astrophysics is whether the emission at different energies originates from different population of particles, with different energy distributions, in different sites of the magnetosphere, and whether this affects their complex multi-wavelength spectra. It is clear that a full multi-wavelength coverage is essential to address such issues. While other bands, have been explored, only now can we explore the sub-mm with ALMA, a crucial range where coherent and incoherent emission processes can coexist. In this talk I will describe the first ALMA observations of pulsars and their implications.
