Abstract & Overview

Energy is an important part of nearly all human activities and builds up modern society. The ocean comprises a variety of renewable energy resources, little of which have been conquered. Renewable energy, which replaces fossil-based fuel, is derived from natural resources like wind, geothermal heat, sunlight, tides etc. Tidal energy, yielded due to the natural rise and fall of ocean waves, is a renewable, non-polluting and clean energy source. Since 70% of Earth's surface is covered by ocean, its role is very important in achieving clean energy in the form of tidal energy. Some countries are leaning towards generation through the tidal energy system to fulfil the increasing demand for electricity. A major part of future electricity needs could be supplied by tidal energy if complications from environmental challenges, the cost-effectiveness of its commercial application, design challenges and the sturdiness of devices can be precisely navigated. India also has the potential to generate this energy.
