Abstract & Overview

A simplified model of the WATWR QUALITY INDEX (WQI) technique is applied to classify and zone Al‐Jaysh Canal in Baghdad used for irrigation, livestock drinking and preservation of fish and aquatic life. It has been found that the WQI declines with the reduction of flow rate, zone 1, 2 and 3 in winter and zone 1 and 2 in summer are safe for uses. Constant discharge is required in the Canal to provide a good water quality.
